How We Approach Implant Candidacy

We know that the second you realize dental implants may be what you’re looking for, you want them right away! However, before you hop in the car and zoom over to our practice for placement, we remind you that we first need to spend time with you to make sure you are someone who can successfully receive implants (and that you are fully informed regarding what to expect). So, how can you get going with all of this, so you can begin replacing teeth ASAP? We’ve got a very simple process ready for you to consider.

We Talk With You

You’ll contact us, schedule a consultation for dental implants, and then come in. There are multiple factors for us to discuss and consider, namely including the following:

  • We need to make sure you fully understand what an implant is, how it works, and what the process of placement and restoration will include
  • We need to ensure your smile is ready for implants or we need to create a plan to get your smile prepared, so you become a candidate

We X-Ray Your Smile

Now, about your smile being in good enough shape to receive dental implants: You need good oral health and a strong, healthy jawbone. By taking X-rays and perhaps additional forms of advanced imaging, we can see everything going on with your oral health, so we know where it stands. If you’re not quite ready, you may need bone grafting or other treatment in preparation.

We Learn About Your Health History

How’s your general health these days? Are you A-OK and ready for surgery? Do we need to consider health conditions or particular medications that you’re taking? We will also consider your overall health as we work toward replacing your teeth!
