Dental Implants and Complete Dentures
Made from a complete row of lifelike replacement teeth, a denture consists of a comfortable, gum-colored base that is custom-designed to fit along your dental ridge. Dentures allow patients who’ve lost all of their teeth on the upper and/or lower dental ridges to once again enjoy beautiful, youthful smiles. Although made to fit snugly, dentures do not replace the roots of your teeth, and can therefore gradually grow loose as the underlying jawbone loses density.
Implant-supported dentures, however, offer the complete smile restoration offered by conventional dentures, with the increased stability, comfort, and benefit to your oral health that dental implants provide. If you’ve lost all of your teeth, or if you have been wearing conventional dentures for a while, speak with Dr. Stewart about implant-supported dentures by scheduling a consultation.
Are You a Candidate?
Patients who have experienced wearing dentures may be familiar with the discomfort that arises when they grow loose. These patients are often excellent candidates for an implant-retained prosthesis. If your examination reveals a healthy enough foundation and a strong enough jawbone, then Dr. Stewart will work with you to upgrade your current replacement teeth with implant-supported dentures.
In some cases, Dr. Stewart can perform teeth-in-a-day, wherein your dentures will be removed, the implant posts placed, and your new, fixed dentures attached to the implants, all in the same day! Teeth-in-a-day may also be ideal for patients who require tooth extraction to make room for their replacement teeth. The procedure can include tooth extraction before the implant placement and restoration process, so you can enjoy your brand new smile in almost no time!
