When you lose most of your teeth, or all of them, then you need a prosthetic to restore your ability to eat and smile with ease and confidence. However, removable dentures often need periodic replacement, and could slip when you eat and speak. Fortunately, your Livonia, MI, dentist can provide an alternative, and looks forward to helping enjoy full smiles again in the near future!
The Dangers of Total Tooth Loss
When we lose a majority of our teeth, this could lead to problems speaking clearly, and severely limit what we can eat. Being forced to subsist on soft foods could mean depriving our bodies of essential nutrients, and ourselves of our favorite eats. Since the body stops sending doses of calcium and phosphorus to the jawbone around a missing tooth, this means your jawbone as a whole is becoming deprived of the nutrients that keep it strong. As the bone tissue deteriorates, the person takes on a much older appearance.
Dental Implant Dentures
With dental implant dentures, we place between six and eight dental implants per arch. For those qualifying for the All-on-four method, we could use as little as four. We place them at angle to support your new teeth and absorb daily pressures and bite forces. They bond with the jawbone and act as new roots. We then attach a prosthetic, custom-made to reflect your facial structure, which looks natural and restores your ability to enjoy your favorite foods and smile with confidence. On average, they can last decades, possibly a lifetime, and you never need to remove them for cleaning or soaking.
Teeth-In-A-Day
While there is sometimes a gap between the placement of the dental implants and the addition of the custom-made prosthetic, we can sometimes complete every step in one visit. With Teeth-in-a-Day, we insert the new roots and then attach a prosthetic in the same visit, so you never go without a complete smile. Later, you will return for your final prosthetic, but you never have to worry about an empty smile! While we’re closed for routine treatments and only offering emergency care at the moment, know that when we can open our doors again, we would love to help you obtain a full and beautiful smile.
