Advanced Technology And Dental Implant Placement

When you have missing teeth, whether one or several of them, then you need to seek tooth replacement to avoid major complications. As part of the planning and treatment process, your Livonia, MI, dentist will employ a number of advanced technologies to ensure tooth replacement with accuracy and precision.

Treating Your Tooth Loss

Missing teeth could lead to serious trouble for your smile. You could endure complications eating and even speaking clearly. You could develop misalignment as the gaps in your smile cause natural teeth to drift, which in turn means poorer oral health. The pressure from the changes to your overall bite balance could also lead to TMJ disorder and bruxism (teeth grinding). But the most severe complication is the loss of mass and density in your jawbone, in which your body no longer sends key nutrients to the jawbone around the lost roots. This means a breakdown linked to further tooth loss and even an aged appearance! But with dental implants, we not only fill the gaps in your smile, but we stimulate the growth of jawbone tissue to protect your facial structure and tooth stability! To do this, we use advanced digital imaging technology.

Digital X-Rays

First, we need to understand the loss of your teeth. With digital x-rays, we can take a close look at your smile to assess the strength of your jawbone, the position of your missing teeth, and choose a placement area and position that doesn’t come into contact with sinus cavities and nerve tissues. Going digital means using a fraction of the radiation, up to 90% less. The images don’t need to be developed in harsh chemicals either, they’re available instantly chairside. This saves you time and is beneficial for the environment too! We can plan the placement process with precision and accuracy.

Trios Intraoral Scanner

To plan the placement position and to also design a new tooth root and crown that fits your smile and blends well with it, we need to create a dental impression. In the past, this meant biting down on a mold filled with gooey material, and holding it for several minutes. This process usually had to be repeated to get a viable impression. But we’ve gone digital, which offers greater precision and accuracy, and also means no more molds and gooey materials! Instead, we use the Trios Intraoral Scanner to obtain measurements and images of your smile from multiple angles quickly and conveniently. We combine these to create a digital impression to allow us to design and fabricate the right prosthetic for your smile, whether you need one tooth replaced or several.
